1957: Marilyn and Arthur leave the hospital a little over a week after Marilyn was rushed there.
Marilyn had found out recently that she was pregnant, and she was ecstatic. Having had a terrible childhood and near non-existent mother, she had wanted more than anything to be a mother. She loved children and wanted one of her own; to give them the loving childhood and doting mother she never had. On August 1, she had doubled over in pain while gardening and was rushed to the hospital. The doctors discovered she had an ectopic pregnancy. They couldn’t save the baby. To protect Marilyn’s life, they terminated the pregnancy. Devastated and depressed, she did not leave the hospital for 10 days.
